INCLUDE THAT BODY
Body positivity and size inclusivity are
somewhat of a taboo especially in the fashion industry but not where, Christian Siriano is concerned. The high-profiled designer doesn’t shy away from provided
for the body types that the fashion world usually shuns. He likes to pay
specific attention to body positivity and size inclusivity. Designers of his
kind are a rarity. He has been hailed as one of Time Magazine’s 100
Most Influential People, Comedian Leslie Jones, found herself in a bit of
a bubble when she needed an outfit for a film premiere in 2016. Most designers
turned her down, but Christian came to her rescue producing the most beautiful
red gown.
“He made
me feel like I was supposed to have that dress on,” Jones wrote for Time’s
list. “That’s the specialness of Christian Siriano: he makes every piece feel
like you are supposed to have it and like it was made for you. He has his
talents and then incorporates them into what you want, which in the end is
something that both of us want, making him a one-of-a-kind designer.”
Selma Blair, Ashley Graham and Danielle Brooks
are a few of curvalicious babes Christian included in his Fall 2018 fashion
show. Models stunned the runway in a variety of jaw-dropping gowns that
accentuated and celebrated every shape, size and skin colour of those that took
part.
It’s fair to say that the fashion industry is
becoming more inclusive of diversity where size in concerned but the growth is
slow and the pioneers are few. However, Christian stands out from the crowd
with his fearlessness in providing for a minority and for that, Atypical
cherish him and his compelling desire to make his own difference in fashion.
